Marriage and Family Therapist
Ihave a master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Edgewood College and am an advanced level Somatic Experiencing (SE) practitioner in-training. SE is a form of trauma work, a body-oriented psychotherapy.
I work with a variety of clients who want to reduce personal or relational distress and suffering and increase their vitality in life. I treat anxiety, depression, life transitions, relational/developmental trauma, PTSD, surgical trauma, preparing for surgery (to reduce developing trauma), grief and loss. I work with adults (ages 18+) in individual, couples and family sessions. I am an LGBTQ+ friendly and poly welcoming therapist.
I look beyond the individual to include the interplay of bigger systems in my clients’ lives and how this may be affecting them individually. When appropriate I integrate mindfulness practices in session. I see therapy as a collaborative process between practitioner and client and work with my client as we map a therapeutic path together.
In addition to traditional talk therapy, my training in SE, a body-oriented approach, includes working with the nervous system and people’s natural stress responses which can impact how they experience the world around them. This can be very helpful work to make lasting changes in life and to find a better harmony within oneself and relationships with others.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my husband, two teenage daughters and two rescue dogs. I like photography, taking hikes, and studying different therapeutic approaches… yes, I love what I do that much. For more information, please visit my website at www.turningleaf.care.
