Abby Kearns, LCSW

Abby Kearns, LCSW
Licensed Clinical Social Worker/Psychotherapist

My practice focuses on; women, adolescents, LGBTQ population, couples and small group counseling. My specialty areas include; trauma, adjustment issues, anxiety and panic disorders, depression, post-partum depression, life transitions, mood disorders, relationship problems, self-esteem issues, career/employment struggles and spiritual concerns. In addition to my private practice, I provide consultation to a variety of area public school staff relating to trauma informed care, practice, teaching and education on youth and mental health. I also provide psycho-education to local area companies on wellness and emotional health for employees.

I have worked for a variety of nonprofit entities in both the Madison and Milwaukee geographical areas. I have over 12 years’ experience working with individuals, couples and families. My philosophy of counseling is client-centered, based on respect for the individual and a belief in each person’s intrinsic value. I believe in the potential of the human spirit to rise above painful life situations I believe it is my responsibility as a therapist to assess what the client's needs are, to offer hope and support, and to empower them to make the necessary changes in their lives so they can reach their goals and realize their full potential.

Personally, I am a mother of two energetic, insightful and bright children; both of whom are unique learners with learning differences and other co-occurring conditions. I live locally in the Madison Metropolitan area with my husband, children and dog, Scooby.
