Professional Counselor

I am a licensed professional counselor and a licensed marriage and family therapist. I completed my undergraduate degree in child psychology from the University of Minnesota--Twin Cities, and I earned my master's degree in counseling from UW Whitewater.

I have over 7 years of experience working with both children/teens and adults in outpatient therapy, school, in-home, and crisis settings. I specialize in working with children and families. I am a nationally-certified Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy (TFCBT) counselor, and I have extensive experience working with children and families who have experienced trauma and attachment disruptions. I also provide couple’s counseling and therapy for individual adults.  I am also a certified Prepare/Enrich facilitator for couples. Other areas of specialty include parenting, depression, anxiety/panic disorders, family transitions, ADHD, childhood behavioral challenges, women’s issues, and relationship concerns.

I approach therapy from a strength-based and family system lens. I help clients identify and build on what is going well and understand how change can occur by developing new patterns of interacting with others. Therapy sessions with children are interactive and often include play, and parents are involved in the therapy process.

In my free time, I enjoy cooking and spending time outdoors with my family. I love to camp, hike, and ski. I live in Madison with my husband, son, and yellow lab.  I also have a private practice in Madison, Kind Therapy.
